New Website moves… iOS/iPad bliss!

So I’m working on getting a host again, starting to design a site from the ground up on Coda for my personal site. We’ll see if I can acutally make this project come to fruition or not.

I’m definitely interested in doing some animated HTML5 and making the site mobile friendly as well. Something with a nice rotating photo on the initial load, a gallery, and of course news posts. But from the ground up. Not going to use a CMS this time, I’m really going to dig into it and get some knowledge here. The question is will I have a backend involved? Probably, not sure I want to keep everything in HTML format, but that’s not out of the question. I can certanly easily export MultiMarkDown or MarkDown to HTML if needed for posts. I just want it to be nice looking and from scratch.

We’ll see if it comes to be. I still need to get a host. Deon is going to hook me up as a rep for his hosting company, which is very cool of him. I’ve looked into this host and they seem very good. Basically everything I would need. Now just an $80 copy of Coda 2 for my Mac and possibly an HTML5 animating software (can’t think of the name of the software right now, I’d have to search my Mac appstore and I honestly haven’t been using my mac all that much lately.

What the… that’s the hell!

First off I’m going to say what the hell? I had something posted (BLOGSY!) and it seems to be lost in space somewhere…

Anywhoo, basically all I was saying is I have been forcing myself to step up and just get shit done, I realize that life just carries on, I can sit here and feel sorry for myself, or I can check out. I’m sure as hell not going to check out, so I’m gonna go on. It’s very hard to do when I don’t feel the satisfaction of completing a job, but I do feel the weight lifted of my back and much better for that.

Video

I found this video called “Hold Fast” on Vimeo about a few anarchist sailors that grab a derelict boat fix it up and sail around the Caribbean. It’s something that I wish I could do now, or better (and more accurately) wish I had done when I was younger. Anyway, here’s the video:

Can I ever keep up with my promises?

I don’t know if it’s intentional or not, but I’ve made a commitment to myself to keep making posts to my blog and they’re all the same, constant bitching about how I don’t do enough creative, how I don’t post to my blog or journal.

I’m really starting to think I’m lazy or just flat do not have the time to actually do this, which can’t be true. Sure life’s more complex for me now than it’s ever been but why can’t I just make myself write. I certainly have thoughts about what to write about. I downloaded Storify and thought, WOW, what a great way to take an idea from a tweet you read and turn it into something special. But I pull in said tweet and complete writers block. So up to this point my Storify is full of amusing conversations on Twitter. Flat, boring, and complete shite.

Blogsy vs. Tumblita

So Blogsy just introduced Tumblr support, which I suppose is good. I like Blogsy, it’s very much like a word processor that you can easily add movies, photos, links to. The problem is I typically write in MultiMarkdown.

This version of Blogsy is supposed to support Markdown (which Tumblita does very well) but it seems that Markdown support is not working with Tumblr blogs. So that leaves me in a quandary. Do I continue to use Blogsy, as it’s GREAT for my Posterous family blogs, it’s very easy to insert video and photos, web clippings, even videos from Vimeo now (which is HUGE for me). But I’ll have to continue to utilize non Markdown text in my Tumblr blog for the time being. I haven’t had a chance to contact the developer yet to see what the issue is, or if I’ll be able to rectify it with some setting or something (which I will inevitably do. But what if that doesn’t work. Do I keep using the combo of Blogsy & Tumblina? I rarely post to Posterous but when I do I need it to be rock solid and easy to do.

Getting my concealed carry permit.

It’s time again.

I need to really start to think about my rights and how I apply them. I haven’t written much about my issues of late when purchasing guns, but I seem to get flagged with a delay every time I try to purchase a gun. It started, I believe, with my last Ruger M77 in .204, and has happened with every gun purchase since, my Bushmaster M4 Carbine, my 2nd Ruger 10/22, Savage .243. Jennifer was able to buy her Ruger P90 with absolutely no trouble.

So how do I get this corrected and will it impact my concealed carry permit?

What a seriously effed up day!

First thing this morning…

…I get a call from an 800 number on my cell, I’m at work so I’m not going to deal with a bill reminder or anything, but I get a funky voicemail, so I call the number back (shoulda made my call private) to see if I can find out the company, cuz it’s not in the voicemail. I get calls now and then, reminder’s to pay my cell bill or Comcast, I’m not a deadbeat, more of an airhead, so I forget to pay on time, but I do pay the bills.

Anyway, this dude answers the 800 number without saying a company name or anything, so I’m like odd, and hang up. I get an immediate call back from a 713 number (NY I think?) and I know immediately at that point who it is. Goddamned Verizon bill that I was disputing ended up in collections, and let’s just say they hire THUGS to collect bills, I’ve dealt with these people before. I’ve explained to them that I’ve already paid Verizon the balance and it’s NOT EVEN ON MY CREDIT REPORT anymore.

So much for a full on 365 Project

I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, well more than likely not, but I haven’t been following my 365 project very well. When I started this post I had excuses in my head that, sheesh, the kids take up so much time, or work’s a bitch. Really it falls back on the fact that I’m a lazy asshole.

So there, yes, as much as I complain about NOT having time, I have TONS of time that I could be doing a picture a day. I certainly LOVE Instagram, but do I use it? Yes, but not every day. I have Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, oh I’m the “Hipster” kid when it comes to social services, and oh yea, Path too (where most of my REAL friends are. But do I even post there that much? In bursts, I get a social media blast ever few days, and boom I’m talking to someone on twitter I haven’t talked to in months, or I’m talking to a few people here and there. The real problem is I just don’t stick with anything and it’s totally my fault.

More from the mind…

Of your’s truly

So I started watching a new show with Jen, Once Upon a Time, it’s centered initially on the characters of Snow White, but expands and takes the stories we all know and love and warps them a bit, into this crazy magically “Happily Ever After” land, where the wicked queen (from Snow White) is able to cast everyone out of her land and trap them in a place where all their dreams have been smashed (a town called Storybook, ME).

So far, I must say I like it. The twists on the stories that we grew up with (think every Disney animated feature you’ve ever seen) are interesting, and there are some truly wicked characters developing. I’d have to say the most interesting of which is Rumpelstiltskin. He’s a twisted fucker to say the least. Yes, the evil queen/mayor of Storybrook is also pretty damned evli and twisted, and I’ve yet to see all the episodes this season let alone the entire show, from the creators of lost by the way, so there’s no lack of symbolism and viewer suspense.

Twitter acquires Posterous

More on the news at The Next Web and from Twitter’s blog

Blogging and sharing company Posterous has announced via its company blog that it has been snagged by Twitter in an apparent ‘acqui-hire’, with Twitter interested mostly in the people, not the product. Various Posterous engineers, product managers and more will join the Twitter team and the existing ‘Spaces’ that users have will remain up and running for now.

Twitter going to fuck up another great service…
